Kofta is a type of Middle Eastern meatball. It can also be made with lamb or poultry. Kofta can be found across the world in many forms, from Turkey to India.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
- 1 red onion, chopped and divided
- 1 tbsp garlic salt
- Garam masala to taste*
- Minced garlic to taste
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- Dried mint leaves to taste
- Water
- Salt to taste
Mix ground beef with parsley, 1/4 of the red onion, garlic salt, and garam masala. Shape into 16 balls.
Fry the rest of the onion, minced garlic, garam masala, tomatoes, mint leaves in a medium pot until aromatic. Add kofta and fry for 3 mins.
Add water until just covered. Salt to taste. Boil for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
*Note: If you do not have garam masala, mix cumin, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, paprika, and/or nutmeg together as a substitute.
